Orion Constitution
Orion was establish for serious roleplayers to get
together and search out the dungeons of Yserbius, Twinion and now
Cawdor, and to further enhance the roleplaying experience. The
objectives of this Guild is to grow in numbers and promote good
roleplaying. Helping out the less fortunate players so that they might
better serve Orion.
Orion is a family oriented guild... but one that
should know how to fight if the need should arise. There is a minimum
requirement of 5th level for eligibility for Orion
membership. Only one character per player is allowed in the Guild and
the same Character may not be involved with another Guild.
Orion is meant as a meeting place for creative
roleplaying and sharing of secrets regarding Yserbius.
Ranks are molded after old English titles.
King / Queen {1 each}
Prince / Princess {2}
Arch Duke/Duchess {1 per host}
Duke /Duchess {4}
Chaplin {2 held by a cleric}
Marquis /Marchioness {4}
Count / Countess {8}
Viscount / Viscountess {10}
Baron / Baroness {16}

Jester {2} = Knight
There is a limited number of rank so a matter of promotion becomes
important. The ranking system is much like the old English system and
starts at the top with a King or Queen.
SQUIRE / SQ
The title given to a new member. This is a period of trail. When the
squires mentor considers him worthy the mentor will bring it to the
attention of a council member that can promote him to Knight. The
attenance of the new members first meeting is also another way of
promotion to the rank of Knight.
KNIGHT / KNGT
The basic member of Orion starts as a knight and gets
promoted from there. They hold little power and are only responsible
for learning guild by laws.
BARONET /BRNT
These nobles are distinguished above Knights as having been in
Orion for enough time to learn By laws.
BARON /BRN
The first of the high nobles.
VISCOUNT /VCNT
This title is to further provide the ability to distinguish merits
through promotion.
COUNT /CNT
They are able to make by laws to be heard by high council. They need
no sponsor but can not vote in closed elections.
MARQUESS /MQS
These nobles are able to make By laws to be heard in Court. They need
no sponsor but cannot vote in closed elections.
DUKE /DUKE
The major body of political power in Orion, they sit
in high council with the authority to make by laws and recruit as well
as vote in closed sessions. They are next in line for King.
ARCH DUKE /AD** *=host initials
Arch Duke act as representatives of the King or Queen in his/her
absence. There is a Arch Duke for each host that
Orion occupies. These positions fall outside the
normal ranks of Orion, but are generally considered
to fall between the ranks of Prince and Duke.
PRINCE /PoC or PoH
There are two Princes, Prince of Harmony and Prince of Chaos. The two
Princes jointly rule Orion anytime the King or Queen
is away for an extended period of time. They are the second highest
ranking position in Orion. The Princes together, can
overrule any decision made by the King/Queen as long as both Princes
agree. It is the duty of the Princes to ensure that no one person can
take full control of the operation of this guild. Due to the
possibility of conflicts here, the Princes are elected
indefinitely. Extreme circumstances, a Prince could be removed from
power by 3/4 vote of the high council. The Princes are not eligible
for Kingship unless they have forfeited their position as Prince for
at least 4 months.
KING /KING or QN
The King or Queen of Orion holds most of the power of
Orion. He/She holds the ability to veto any vote made
in either open or closed session. He/She is the one who grants titles
and laws to the Guild. The Kings/Queens responsibilities are to
oversee all aspects of guild life. Elections for King/Queen are held
as the need arises. He/She may choose a Queen/King, 2 Champions, and
an ArchDuke for every host Orion occupies. The
Queen/King and the Champions are to assist the King/Queen in any
matter that he/she deems appropriate.
MAGISTRATE /MAGI
The King is removed from office and is no longer eligible for resuming
his office as Duke. He is therefore transferred to the title of
Magistrate and enters the High Council. They work as one political
body and are allowed one single vote in any vote or election. The
Magistrate will remain here until he retires from
Orion. The retiring Magistrate may rejoin
Orion with a new character as a Knight. A Magistrate
is also concidered to be a Royal Advisor to the King/Queen.
HIGH COUNCIL
The High Council is comprised of the King, both Princes, the Dukes and
all Arch Dukes. Also all Magistrates can attend and cast one vote
each. They are the main political power of Orion and
hold closed votes. They are the committee members for anything the
King demands or Voting makes necessary.
PROMOTIONS
Promotions are to be determined by the members abilities and knowledge
of Orion and willingness to help others. Unknown to
the member, each will be tested on these matters and promoted
accordingly. *Promotions within Orion can be done by
any member possessing the rank of Duke or higher, and limited to the
number of position available for each rank.
Dukes..........up to the ranks of Baron
Prince.........to Count.
King/Quenn.....to Marquis
The ranks of Duke and Prince are elected when a position becomes
available. When a person is initiated into Orion,
they are given the rank of squire until their guardian feels they
understand the duties and responsibilities of their membership and
passes the tests. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly
appreciated. Please feel free to bring them up at any meeting. Any
member that breaks the by laws may be brought up on charges in front
of High Council. The accuser shall be the prosecutor with defender
present.
